Court arraigns 40-year-old man for raping disabled pupil

Shittu was granted bail in the sum of N500,000 with two sureties in like-sum.

Shittu was reported to have committed the offence on March 7, 2016, at the Osun State Secondary School for Persons with Special Needs, Osogbo, around 10 PM.

According to Mr. Mereti Wilson, a police persecutor, the suspect is guilty of an offence under Sections 358 and 360 of the Criminal Code, Cap 34, vol. II, Law of Osun State of Nigeria, 2003.

Some section of the charge against Shittu reads, charge sheet read in part, “That you, Kamoru Shittu, aged 40, on March 7, 2016, at about 10pm, at the State of Osun Secondary School for Persons with Special Needs, Osogbo, did have unlawful carnal knowledge of one female, ( name withheld) aged 21, a deaf and dumb student of the school.

“That you, Kamoru Shittu, on the same date and place did unlawfully and indecently assault the victim,”

The suspect however pleaded not guilty to the charge. His counsel, Bola Ige, subsequently requested for his bail, stating that until implicated, the constitution currently finds him innocent.

Mrs. A. A. Olowolagba, the court magistrate granted Shittu bail in the sum of N500,000, with two sureties in like-sum.

According to Punch, the case was adjourned till May 19, 2016.
