12-yr-old girl killed by grinding machine in Bauchi

A 12 year old girl has been killed by a grinding machine when she processing groundnut for her mother in Bauchi State.

It was a sad loss for the family of 12-year-old Aisha Baba, who was killed by a grinding machine in Galdimari District, Jama’are local government area of Bauchi State, when the fan belt of the machine caught the hem of her dress and she was dragged on the ground, snuffing life out out of her.

According to the state Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO), DSP Haruna Mohammed, the incident happened on Wednesday, April 15, 2015, when the girl was grinding groundnut for her mother at the local grinding site.

"On 15/4/2015 at 10:00hrs, one Aisha Baba, female and 12 years of Galdimari District in Jama’are local government area of Bauchi State was sent by her mother to process groundnut at a nearby grinding machine site in the township.

Unfortunately, the machine fan belt hooked the girl’s clothes and dragged her to the ground. As a result, the victim sustained serious injuries."

The PPRO said the girl was rushed to the general hospital in the town but lost her life while receiving treatment.
