Nigerians have taken to Twitter to campaign against Minister of Interior, Abba Moro’s stay in office following the unfortunate Nigerian Immigration Service recruitment exercise where a number of applicants died.
Nigerians Refuse Apology, Hound Abba Moro Over NIS Deaths
Interior Minister Abba Moro was the subject of a tweet-attack following his NIS recruitment disaster apology.
Student Pulse has yesterday reported the Minister’s apology following pressure and accusations of negligence and corruption in the botched recruitment process.
“I think that I will ordinarily ask Nigerians for understanding in this matter, understanding the intention, understanding the motive behind the whole thing of an open, transparent recruitment exercise,” Abba Moro had said.
It now seems like his apology only stoked the ire of Nigerians as tweets calling for his resignation flooded the popular social media network following the reports.
They demanded his resignation as a condition for forgiveness.
“Abba Moro can take his apologies and shove it up his ass, he must take responsibilities for his actions, human lives were lost,” said @tammyDmilanista .
“Abba Moro is just disgracing himself in the name of damage control. Do the honourable thing and resign forgiveness is not by force,” @BlackVoltaire tweeted.
A similar tweet by @faseyiolumide went, “I still don't get. You mean even Moro's children can't convince him to resign. Are they not ashamed walking the streets?”
@Tunde_gbada was angry that Moro remained in office despite the tragedy.
He tweeted, “How can I stop weeping for Nigeria when a man like Abba Moro is still in office after his recklessness that killed Nigerians? #iWeepForNigeria.”
Some also wanted a refund of the registration money taken from applicants.
“Abba Moro should return the NIS applicants 1k,resign &drive himself to jail before Nigerians can forgive him...” @j_daisi wrote.
@kryzxtn, tweetd, “Even Judas Iscariot eventually returned the 30 pieces of silver, blood money. Why is Abba Moro waiting for prompters?”
“Moro should return the 1k he collected from applicants then resign....Nigerians might consider forgiving him,” says @elucand.
It will be recalled 16 applicants' lives lost their lives, with several others sustaining various degrees of injuries, at the Nigerian Immigration Service recruitment exercise of March 15th, 2014.
