In what could be said to be spiritually controlled action, Mallam Saleh Magaji, a 53-year-old man, has allegedly murdered four of his children, as well as attempting to kill himself after he had a bitter quarrel with his wife, Punch reports.

Mallam Magaji was also said to have tried to kill his wife the previous night but she managed to escape from the house.

The sad incident which happened on Wednesday, November 18, has thrown the residents of Ahmadu Street, Kawo, Kaduna State, into apprehension as such a tragedy has never happened in the area.

It was gathered that after the quarrel with his wife and his failed attempt to kill her, Mallam Magaji locked the door of the house and used a knife to kill the four children who were between the ages of six and one, before slicing his own throat.

One of the children who was not in the house at the time of the incident, alerted the community leader when he found the door to their residence locked from the inside and his calls went unanswered.

The community leader then mobilized others and when the forced the door open, they met the gory and bloody scene where all the children lay dead while the father was in a critical condition.

The man and the corpses of the children were rushed to the St Gerard’s General Hospital in Kakuri, where doctors attempted to save his life.

The State Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO), DSP Abubakar Zubairu, confirmed the incident, saying it was the wife that reported the matter to the police.
