Readers say Belinda should wait on God for a good man

The most painful thing is that his family members who were always running to her for help have all backed him.

"My name is Belinda, a 42-year-old single woman who has been hurt several times by men I thought would be there for me.

I can proudly say that I am a woman who loves with the whole of my heart and I try to do everything for my man, even sacrificing my comfort for him but at the end of the day, they turn around to hurt me real bad.

I remember when I first fell in love with when I was 22-years-old. I was in my third year in the university when I met Ray who was in his final year. Before I met Ray, I had had some relationships but with Ray, I knew I was madly in love and I showed him so much love.

I made sure he had everything I could afford and even lied to my parents to get money for him whenever he was broke and needed money.

I helped Ray out in so many ways that even my friends told me I was being a fool for love but I was in love and did not care what anyone said.

But what did I get in return? Ray dumped me the moment he graduated and did not want to have anything to do with me any longer. I cried and begged him to tell me what my offense was but he just told me to move on with my life as he was not in love with me any longer.

It took me so many months of cries and heartbreak before I could get my mind off Ray and made a vow that I would never have anything to do with any man again.

But after spending two years all alone, I succumbed to my friends' pressures and fell in love with but after doing so much for him, Edwin too disappointed me by dumping me ingloriously.

I have gone from one man to the other with no success in my relationships but when I met Nath five years ago, I thought I had found the man who would make me a happy woman.

At the initial stage, Nath showed me so much love and I thought this was it. Agreed that Nath was eight years younger than me but he did not show any sign of inferiority complex and treated me like an equal.

At first, I did not tell him my age because I did not want to scare him away but when I finally told him, he told me that age did not matter in a relationship and that he loved me and wanted to marry me.

I was so happy with Nath but the problem was that he had a very lowly job and I encouraged him to sit for JAMB and get an admission into the university so as to better his lot.

He told me that as much as he wanted to go back to the university, he had no means of pursuing his dream since he was the breadwinner of his family.

I told him I was ready to sponsor him in the university but when he protested, I told him I was only investing in my future husband and did not see anything wrong with that.

Throughout his stay in the university, I was the one taking care of Nath's needs and even took care of his parents and siblings because they were so poor they could not take care of their needs.

But I was given the shock of my life when Nath graduated and got a better job and while I was waiting with bated breath for him to come and meet my parents so that we could formalise our marriage, Nath gave me the shock of my life when he told me that his parents say he should not marry someone who is older than he is.

Right now, I am in so much pains and anger. I don't know if I was not destined to get married. I am really hurt. Someone should help me out here.
