Mathew Oluyede, a 51-year-old pupil primary school teacher in Ekiti State, has been remanded in prison custody by an Ado-Ekiti Magistrates' Court until November 17 when his case will be up for hearing, for allegedly raping and sexually assaulting four of his pupils, aged between two and nine, reports Daily Post.
Oluyede who is married with grown up children, was arraigned before Magistrate Taiwo Ajibade, for allegedly defiling the minors at various times in the school, according to the prosecutor, Sgt. Akinwale Oriyomi, committed the offences between October 19 and October 21, at Ayetoro-Ekiti in Ido Local Government Council of the state.
Magistrate Ajibade did not take the plea of the accused, ordering that he be remanded at the Ado-Ekiti Prison until the next date of adjournment, while awaiting the State Director of Public Prosecutions (DPP), for legal advice.
If convicted, Oluyede could face life in prison as the offence is said to contravene Section 218 of the Criminal Code, Laws of Ekiti, 2012.
