Readers say they would never take back a spouse who left them in bad times

82% of Pulse Nigeria Poll voters say they will not take back a spouse who dumped them in bad times.

This man needs your urgent advice

A Pulse reader, Nnamdi Okafor, sent in a letter asking if he should take back a woman who dumped him for another man when he was poor, only for her to stage a come back when things changed for the better for him.

Part of Okafor's letter read:

"Five years ago, I was struggling to set up my business after serving a man for seven years.

At that time, I had a girlfriend, Ifeoma, whom I loved with all of my heart but I could not afford to give her the good things of life she desired. I kept pleading with her to be patient and to assure her of my love, I proposed marriage to her and she accepted.

But along the line, Ifeoma could no longer cope with my poverty and told me in plain terms that she was moving on. She left me in the lurch and even told me to my face that I had no future.

Few months later, I heard that she became the second wife of a rich man.

As God would have it, I met a Chinese man who wanted to bring in some tricycles into Nigeria and we went into partners and, to cut the story, things changed for the better and I can say now that God has blessed me so much that I own three thriving companies and I now have a 'future'.

But about six months ago, Ify came out from the blues and traced me to my office. There, she begged and cried for me to take her back, saying she has realised her mistakes and wants to make amends.

But my whole family is against that and they have made it known they would not accept her."

Read the advice some PNP readers gave him:

Hannah Ejuma:

"My dear Nnamdi, don't ever consider taking her back; her coming back now is because you are rich. Don't dwell on the past love you had for her, look to the future. Remember she dumped you and went and married a man who was rich, left the man and coming to you again, it will keep going on and on.

You will find love dear, and guess who will give you, GOD Almighty. Be wise, be very wise, sir."

Amin Yusuf Itsisor:

"My man, if she cannot stay and suffer with you when times are hard, she is not in love with you for better or worse. She dumped you for greener pasture and remember, business is up and down; what will happen when things are not so good as they are now? She will dump you again, so move on man, you may love her and that is fine but if she doesn't love you back, it will not work."

Based on Okafor's letter, this poser was put up:

How Nigeria voted:
