Readers say they will never forgive a spouse who cheats regularly

"My name is Nimi, a 32-year-old married woman with three lovely kids. I have been married to Timi for eight years now and we have always had a happy marriage, or so I thought, because some months ago, I found out that my husband has been severally with different women.

I have always trusted Timi to the point of discarding any rumour I heard about him and other women. Even when my close friends told me tales of how they saw him with one woman or the other, I never believed them because I felt my husband would never cheat on me.

After all, I often reasoned, what did the other women have that I do not have? What could they give him that I could not? I made sure I satisfied my husband in everything, so what would he be looking for in other women?

I am a very good cook and make his best meals with great care; I take care of him like a mother would; I give him the hottest sex anytime he wants; so I never fathomed that my Timi could ever cheat on me.

But I now know that if a man wants to cheat on you, it does not matter what you do, he will still cheat. This reality dawned on me when I found out that Timi rented an apartment for his mistress with the money he borrowed from me.

When we got married, we had made a vow to support each other and whenever Timi was down and needed money, I would even take a loan in my office to give to him and vice versa.

So when he told me about four months ago that he needed N600,000 to invest in an importation business he and his friends were going into, I did not hesitate to get him the money, after all, I believed it would be for the good of the family.

You can then understand my shock when I discovered that he actually used the money to rent an apartment for another woman.

It was my childhood friend, who told me that she had been seeing my husband in a particular house on her street and most times, he would stay there for a long time.

I did not still believe her until she invited me one day to come and see things for myself. I left my office and went to Tolu's place and she took me to the compound and lo and behold, I saw Timi's car parked right there.

I did not want to create a scene and left with Tolu to her house to wait. Timi left several hours later, and that was when it dawned on me that he was actually cheating on me.

When I got home, I did not confront him on my findings but Tolu and I carried out underground investigations and later realized that it was Timi who rented the apartment for the woman.

When I now confronted him with the facts, he confessed that he actually used the money he borrowed from me to rent the apartment for the woman and begged for forgiveness.

But I am shattered and don't think I can ever forgive him for what he did. Timi has shattered my trust for him and I find it difficult to ever trust him again.
