"I will teach the man a lesson such that for the rest of his life, he will never dream of raising his hands on a woman, not to talk of his wife."
Readers say they will beat up a brother-in-law who abuses their sister
39% of PNP voters say they will beat a man who abuses their sister.
"The man who beats up my sister will have to contend with me. I will so deal with him he will never believe what his him."
"Beat my only sister? Oh my God! That dude is dead."
These were some of the angry words that came out of the Pulse Nigeria Poll when a reader, John, wrote in wanting to know what he should do to his brother-in-law who has made it a habit of beating up his wife, John's only sister.
Hear what he said in part:
"Dear Pulse,
My name is John and as I write this, I am full of venom and if care is not taken, I may have to take the laws into my hands and kill someone.
Not just anyone, but my brother-in-law; I mean my elder sister's husband. My sister Jane is the nicest woman any man can have for a wife but her husband, Kenny, seems to take advantage of her calm and quiet nature to turn her into a punching bag.
My sister has not enjoyed the marriage as she is in and out of hospital and has lost two pregnancies due to severe beating by the brute. But she has remained stuck to him and anyone who suggests that she gets away from him becomes her enemy."
The responses on the poll were quite varying:
How Nigeria voted:
39% - I will beat him up
28% - I will get him arrested
21% - I will make sure my sister leaves him
12% - It is none of my business
So how would you vote?
