While 44 percent of Pulse Nigeria Poll voters think there is nothing really in a name, 56 percent believe that when a woman is married, she has to take up her husband's name, naturally.

The issue came up when a man dragged his wife to a Lagos court because his wife refused to take up his name.

The husband wanted the court to either compel his wife to take his start using his name or to leave his house.

He claimed he was not happy that his wife was still using her father's name on all her documents including her personal profiles, bank accounts and driver's licence.

To the husband, the wife he got married with his hard earned money was his property and as such, all former documents that had to do with her should be transferred to his name.

The poser on Pulse Poll was:

Must a married woman use her husband's name?

How Nigeria voted:

55 % - Yes, her husband's name becomes hers after marriage

44 % - No, there is nothing in a name

How would you vote here?
