Marriage, according to the Christian norm, should be between one man and one woman. But the Islam and Traditional religions have made rooms for more than one wife, with the former allowing a man to marry up to four wives, on the condition that he can take care of them all equally.

A Pulse reader, Maryam,a Muslim, sent in a letter stating her dilemma as her husband is hell bent on getting married to her best friend.

Part of letter reads:

"I was shocked when, two months ago, my husband told me that he had concluded plans to make my best friend, Altine, his second wife.

I was taken by surprise when I further realised that they had gone far with the arrangements and a date had even been fixed before he told me.

I have confronted Altine but she told me she has accepted to marry my husband. As a Muslim, I know my husband is at liberty to marry more than one wife but must it be my friend?"

Based on that, this poser was put up on Pulse Nigeria Poll:

Would you agree to your husband getting married to your best friend?

How Nigeria voted:

22% - Yes, we will live in peace now that we are co-wives

78% - No, she will now become my enemy

How would you vote here?
