Woman posts picture of a baby smoking cigarette on Instagram

The picture was posted in January, and has gained 2,000 likes and over 36,000 comments.

Social media users are outraged after a picture of a baby smoking cigarette was posted on Instagram.

The picture was posted by Instagram user lapelirrojah_delbarriooh, 18 from Valencia. “Already smoking at a year old, love you little one, you’re my f****** life” she wrote in the caption of the controversial picture. Many of the commenters have called it child abuse.

“'I think the police would definitely consider it to be child abuse, it is just absolutely unbelievable” said Antonio Nieto, president of the Spanish Association of Pediatricians.

“Tobacco is intrinsically even worse than heroin and to give it to a baby whose lungs are still developing is even worse. Even children who are exposed to passive smoking are more likely to develop lung conditions such as asthma or chronic bronchitis” he further said.
