Tim and Kerry Meek who are teachers, quit their jobs, sold their home and decided to embark on a year-long 'ed-venture' around the UK in their caravan to teach their children the proper education.

The 12-month trip was such a resounding success that the couple and their two children are about to repeat the experience - only this time around Europe.

Mr and Mrs Meek, took their children Amy, 12, and Ella, 10, out of school last September so they could spend a year being 'road-schooled' as the family travelled around the UK.

Since then, the family have covered 13,000 miles visiting historical sites, natural habitats, museums and exhibitions - while packing in scores of daily learning activities - in a bid to bring the girls' learning 'back to life'.

The Meeks are now planning to continue their unorthodox lifestyle for another year, taking a motor home across Europe so their daughters can hone their French language skills and learn about the Second World War.

Mr Meek, 46, a primary school teacher who specialises in information and communications technology, told MailOnline: 'Since we have been on the road, we have been constantly reflecting on how it's going. We always said that we would stop, the moment it stopped working for anyone.
