Aborted fetuses to require burial or cremation
A new rule proposed by Texas governor, Greg Abbott, means that any aborted fetus will be buried, not disposed.
According to the Huffington Post, the plan was proposed by Greg Abbott, the 48th governor of Texas.
Health care facilities in the state are expected to bury or incinerate the fetuses immediately after an abortion has taken place.
Usually, these health facilities dispose of a fetus at a sanitary sand fill where medical wastes are dumped.
Elizabeth Nash, a manager with the Guttmacher Institute said, “Since abortion clinics have been open and operating in the United States, there have been protocols in place for how to deal with the products of conception, or the fetus."
“Typically, what has been required is that the products of conception be treated as any other tissue from the body. So, as medical waste.”
With this new introduction, there are assumptions that health facilities might be dissuaded from performing more abortions due to cost.
