Black woman who called Muslim woman ‘Isis b******’ on London bus arrested
A Black woman who was caught on camera cursing and insulting a pregnant Muslim woman on a London bus has been arrested.
Simone says: ‘I don’t f***ing like you people because you’re f***ing rude. You come to England and you have no f***ing manners.
‘Go back to your f***ing country where they’re bombing every day. Don’t come to this country where we’re free.'
Despite repeated attempts to calm their abuser, she continued to rant and even threatened to punch Ms Lina, who is pregnant, in the stomach.
The mother-of-three, from Brent, handed herself in after footage of the incident, which was posted to Facebook by Mico Abrigo, went viral, and pleaded guilty to the charge at Hendon Magistrates Court today.
A video of the row was uploaded to Facebook and was subsequently viewed more than 750,000 times before it was taken down.
Joseph admitted causing racially aggravated distress at Hendon Magistrates' Court today after telling police the attack was a "lapse" and had been "taken out of context".
She was released on unconditional bail ahead of sentencing at the same court on November 13. She wept as she was led out of the dock.
Detectives from the Brent Safer Transport team are still investigating the argument, which broke out as the bus travelled along Knatchbull Road at about 10.30am on Tuesday.
One of her victims, Ms Yakoubi, said she almost wept when no one stood up for her in the bus. She is now scared to leave the house and cannot sleep.
In a statement read at court today, she said: "As a consequence I find it difficult to sleep and cannot take medication because I'm pregnant.
"Every time I go out I'm afraid I might find myself in this situation as something similar has happened on a bus on another occasion because I am Muslim."
Last week model Mahaneela Choudhury-Reid fell victim to an unprovoked and racially motivated attack at Regents Park Tube station.
She described the ordeal via Twitter, recalling how on entering a lift, she was repeatedly pushed by a white, stocky middle aged man. When she turned to face him, he continued to push her in full view of 15 or so bystanders who, taking the nomenclature too literally, chose to simply stand by.
Hate crime against Muslims in London has risen by more than 70 per cent in a year, police figures show.
There were 816 Islamophobic offences recorded across London in the past 12 months, compared to 478 for the previous 12 months.
