A woman has fought off a suspected sex attacker by biting his tongue so hard she heard it SNAP.

The 33-year-old victim, who cannot be named, said she opened her front door in South Carolina, USA to find a stranger standing outside armed with a 13-inch serrated knife on October 16.

Miller, 16, forced his way inside, punching her in the face and telling her he would kill her if she didn’t do as she was told, it was reported.

She tried to struggle as he picked her up and carried her towards the bedroom, but her real chance to fight back came when he forced himself on her, putting his tongue into her mouth, the Washington Post said.

According to a police report, she bit down hard until she heard a snap and realised his tongue had come off in her mouth.

As she spat his tongue out on the kitchen floor, Miller allegedly then ran off screaming.

The alleged victim fled her home and ran to a nearby petrol station where she called 911. Police found her bruised and swollen but otherwise okay, and started searching for the alleged attacker.

They were helped in the search when Miller’s mother called for an ambulance to get treatment for his tongue’s stump, which came up on the police radio.

Miller has been charged with first-degree criminal sexual conduct, first-degree assault, first-degree burglary, possession of a weapon during a violent crime and first-degree kidnapping.

Neighbours told NBC News 2 that the 16-year-old suffers from a ‘brain disorder’ which means he acts on impulse and only has the reading age of a child.

It is unclear whether or not doctors will be able to reattach Miller's tongue.

His alleged victim has been hailed as a hero across the USA, with one woman commenting, ‘Warrior not victim! Victor not victim!!’
