Manchester City pub to serve free meals to the homeless on Christmas day
A pub in Manchester City plans to serve food, drinks and give out clothing to needy people on Christmas day.
This charitable act is all thanks to The Old Nags Head in Jacksons Row, off Deansgate, Manchester.
It will also be giving out free clothing and drinks to the needy in the society.
Sean Brett, the pub's licensee has revealed that he and two members of staff will put together an event that will make the day a memorable one.
Speaking about the motivation behind the act, Brett said, “I come into work every day at 6am and a few weeks ago I was taking out cash on Quay Street.
“There was a homeless woman on the floor and she looked like she was dead.
“I phoned the police and they said someone had already phoned about it.
“I was amazed that someone would have rang and just left her there.
“There is a lot of scaffolding around the pub and you see the same faces sleeping there again and again, especially over the past two or three months.
“It’s obviously a problem that’s not going away.”
He added that he does not require any acknowledgement for the intended activity, as it was all about community development.
