Have you ever heard of a player or manager sent off during a game for farting?
This Swedish football player gets red card for farting on the field
The fart heard 'round the world
Yes it now exists, thanks to a Swedish player who received a red card for farting during a match.
Adam Lindin Ljungkvist was dismissed late in a match against Järna SK’s reserves in what he says is the “strangest thing I have ever experienced in football,” as translated by The Guardian.
“I asked the referee, ‘What, am I not allowed to break wind a little?’ ‘No,’ he replied … I don’t get it but maybe he thought I farted in my hand and threw the fart at him. But I did not.”
An opponent agreed. Kristoffer Linde testified that he "was standing a good distance away but I heard the fart loud and clear. It's the strangest thing I've seen on a pitch, and I've been playing football since I was eight years old."
Which is to say that he is now the first player in a century and a half of organized soccer to be sent off for dropping gas on the field.
He and his fart are forever famous. Thanks to that red card.
We shall now name that fart 'The Fart heard around the world'
