Hilarious hashtag on Ooni of Ife's death goes viral

Nigerians as usual have criticised the archaic, retrogressive and barbaric custom on twitter that says after the king dies, his Abobaku is expected to buried with him.

The Abobaku is a title in Yoruba land that means “The one who dies with the king”.

The Abobaku is usually appointed upon a king’s coronation, to be buried with the king when he eventually dies. His job is to serve the king and attend to him in the while in the grave and in the afterlife.

Sadly, without the Abobaku dying with the Ooni, his funeral rites are deemed incomplete.

Despite its supposed importance and cultural advantage, Nigerians are not satisfied with it and they have pronounced it stupid and primitive.
