A petty trader has been shot dead by a stray bullet fired by the police while chasing after a suspected Internet fraudster.
According to an eyewitness, Chidi Okereke, the woman was murdered by a policeman identified as Tboy while chasing the suspected fraudster at the Onipanu Bus Stop along the Ikorodu Expressway, Lagos.
The incident, according to Okereke, happened on Tuesday, April 4, 2017 after the police stopped the suspect at the bus stop and while trying to escape, the policemen opened fire but a stray bullet from the gun of the killer officer hit the mother of two who sold some items at the bus stop, killing her instantly.
Adebayo was said to be with her 14-year-old son at her shop when she was killed. The incident was said to have resulted in a chaotic situation as a crowd stormed the Onipanu Police Station to demand the killer officer who had run into the station before they were dispersed.
In a series of tweets, Okereke narrated how the incident happened including posting a video of the incident on his handle.
