Pastor in prison for allegedly killing lover in Osun

A man of God has been remanded in prison custody for allegedly murdering a widow who was his secret lover.

For raping a lady, Ekene Nweke will spend three years in jail.

Tribune reports that the presiding magistrate, Risikat Olayemi, ordered that the pastor be kept behind bars pending the legal advice from the office of the Director of Public Prosecution (DPP) while the case was adjourned until March 9, 2017, for a mention.

Earlier, the police prosecutor, Inspector Elisha Olusegun had told the court that the accused committed killed the widow on January 11, 2017, at Christ Evangelical Ministry Church, Fashina Area, Ile-Ife.

Insp. Olusegun explained that the accused strangulated Ajayi, who was an official of the Nigeria Prisons Service (NPS), which led to her death.

The prosecutor noted that the offense contravened sections 316 and 319 (1) of the Criminal Code Cap 34 Vol 11, Laws of Osun, 2003.
