Star actress is doing it for Nigerian sex culture

Omotola Jalade-Ekeinde's latest flick could help move Nigerian sex culture forward a whole lot.

Omotola Jalade-Ekeinde's new movie could help spark a sexual culture on screen

Now this is no ordinary trailer. The movie is '' and Omotola Jalade plays the role of a lawyer who has a freaky alter ego.

The movie trailer which has found its way online (on Instagram and Twitter) shows Mrs Ekeinde in a couple of vivid sex scenes. I mean vivid by Nigerian standards.

Now Alter Ego is not like some Nollywood flicks that are skirmish about sex scenes. In the days of old, a sex scene in Nigeria was nothing more than a close-up of four legs tangled together. Sex scenes have advanced just a bit.

Over the years we have had a few bold directors and actresses that have gone ahead to shoot sex scenes that aren't PG. And lately, we have had really low budget, trash flicks that are soft core projects with horrible storylines and bad acting.

Sex on the big screen hasn't been tackled right in Nollywood. Sex is still treated as a taboo. Thandie Newton's  breasts and sex scenes were cut out in the cinema version of ''. Nigeria is hypocritically prudish about sex. We all do it but no one talks about it. Porn is pretty much a big thing but it is whispered and not talked about loudly.

Just like Bollywood, Nollywood has done little or nothing on sex. Societal beliefs and morals have restrained Nigerian sexuality on the big screen. It is one of the many gaps of Nigeria's vibrant movie scene.  Turning a blind eye to our sexuality and sexual lifestyle isn't helping in matters of abortion, misogyny, rape, homosexuality and infidelity. Movies like Omotola's next effort would help address this. When a society is still stuck in some certain areas it is the job of artists to push issues further.

This is not the first time that the hot mother of four has been in a sex scene. The controversial Nollywood movie 'The Prostitute' starring Omosexy and Segun Arinze had a few sex scenes and the whole country couldn't stop talking about it for months.

Omotola Jalade used a body double in the sex scenes but the movie caused a lot of controversies back then and according to the star actress it nearly threatened her marriage.

Now, years after that movie was released, we hope that Alter Ego can have a better reception and help start a conversation about Nigerian sex culture. Hopefully, the sex in the movie doesn't get bashed and trashed.  Omotola Jalade-Ekeinde is about do it for Nigerian sex culture and we have to applaud her.
