As a brand synonymous with safety and customer satisfaction, Oando Marketing organized a free car diagnostic event for automobile owners in the National Stadium on Saturday, December 19, 2015.
The event tagged Oleum SYN Car Diagnostics had over 1000 vehicles pre-registered for free car checks and oil change services. This initiative was powered by Oleum, the premium auto-motive lubricant from the stables of Oando Marketing.
Recognizing that road trips are common to the Yuletide season, the free car diagnostic day event was organized to promote car-care consciousness, ensuring fewer road accidents and mishaps due to mechanical and technical faults.
The Oil change session was carried out by Oando auto-care centers, well-known for their professional auto-services, while the car diagnosis was performed by Oando Marketing’s technical partners, Automedics, a renowned automotive mechatronics outfit who specialize in vehicle diagnosis, repairs, maintenance and sales of spare parts in Lagos.
They also run a school, where Oando Marketing is currently running a mechanic training program, aimed at updating and upgrading the skills of auto-technicians in Nigeria.
Speaking on the free car diagnostics, the Chief Executive Officer of Oando Marketing, Abayomi Awobokun said the initiative was primarily focused on informing the public that Oleum cares about their cars.
“Today, it’s more than generating awareness about our lubricants, it’s also about easing holiday travel for auto-mobile users. So we organized this free car check for people to detect exactly what is wrong with their car, get expert advice on the right auto-services and products best for their cars, as well as interact on a personal basis with our team of experts.
It’s really many things in one but most importantly we want to show our customers that it is not just about sales, we also care about their cars and their safety because we understand that the festive season is usually a cause of concern when it comes to road accidents.”
Speaking on other programs run by Oando Marketing, he said “The Oleum academy is one of the many activities we started last year to give back to Nigerians, it’s an initiative that has to do with training and equipping mechanics with internationally-acclaimed skills. We didn’t just train the mechanics and let them go; we still support them with additional information, equipment’s when necessary and services. Indeed, some of them are here today; the governor of the first Oleum Academy class is here today.”
Also speaking, Oando Marketing’s Head of Lubes, Mrs. Lilian Ikokwu, said that the Oleum sponsored Diagnostic Day which was the first ever in the downstream sector of the Nigeria oil industry was aimed at creating awareness for Lagosians on the need to be more proactive about car care.
Throwing more light on the thought behind the programme she said “We are giving free diagnostics today to as many as we can, as well as offering free oil change services, over 1000 people demonstrated interest. It’s just another way to further show our commitment to quality products and excellent customer service. This year, Oando Marketing launched new products like the Oleum Syn as well as re-vamped the packaging of our Oleum lubricants.
Also, we have successfully progressed with the Oleum academy; training over 100 auto-technicians in the past year. The intention of this initiative is to cultivate a car-care culture among users. You are aware that cars from 1996 upwards you can run diagnostics on them and in this season, people travel a lot. This initiative gives them the opportunity to service their cars whether they are traveling or staying in Lagos, ensuring that wherever they are going they get there safely with no interruptions or accidents.”
One of the beneficiaries, Anabike Henry, who had his car diagnosed, was thrilled at the experience. He said his greatest joy was that the cause of his car consuming too much fuel has been identified and fixed. Anabike who applauded Oando Marketing, said apart from saving him huge sums of money at the mechanics, he learnt about the importance of frequent car checks.
“Diagnosing a vehicle is very expensive; Oando Marketing has saved me that cost. And I have really learnt a lot about my vehicle. Since, I have knowledge of what has been causing the hiccups in my car; I can now better handle the problem. I can’t thank Oando Marketing enough. I am travelling for the holidays and I can assure you that the benefit is well-appreciated.”
Commenting on the efficiency of the Oleum lubricant, Kemi Adebola said, “I’m a first time user of the Oando Oleum lubricant and after test driving my car for a few minutes after the oil change, the performance of my engine actually feels different, there’s an improvement. I definitely will ensure that my mechanic uses Oleum for my engine. I’m glad I registered online and actually came today, I had fun.”
In addition to the free car checks and oil change, attendees were treated to sumptuous finger foods prepared with Oando Marketing’s popular LPG brand, O-Gas. Lucky customers were also rewarded with free fuel vouchers and amazing discounts on lubricant purchases.
The Oleum Syn Car diagnostics event is the first of its kind. Plans are already in the works to extend this initiative beyond Lagos to other regions in Nigeria.
