Chijioke Ikechi, a robbery suspect, had his ear lobe bit off by a victim during a robbery attack on a residence at Ukaegbu Road, Ogbor Hill, Aba, Abia State, Vanguard reports.

Chijioke and three other members of his gang had invaded the residence, dispossessed their victims of N300,000 and inflicted a machete cut on a resident, Ndubuisi Mba.

It was gathered that residents of the area sent a distress call to a police patrol team as one of the victims held on to Ikechi after biting off his ear lobe, while other members of the gang fled on sighting the police.

A resident said narrated:

“We heard shouts that armed robbers were robbing near our house and called the police, who did not waste in responding.

When they saw the police, some of the armed robbers ran away. The victim held on to one of them and the police arrested him. We commend the Police team for responding to our call.”

Police PROr, Abia State Command, Ezekiel Udeviotu Onyeke, a Deputy Superintendent of Police, who confirmed the incident, said the police recovered a machete and an iron pipe fitted with wood, resembling a gun from the gang.

The police spokesman added that Mba, who sustained a machete cut, had been receiving medical attention at an undisclosed hospital in the area. He also appealed to the public to come forward with any useful information that will lead to the capture of the criminals
