Agency impounds 37 tonnes of drugs
34 tonnes of psychotropic substances and three tonnes of Cannabis Sativa 'Igbo' have been impounded by NDLEA in 2016.

The disclosure was made by the State Commandant, Alhaji Hamza Umar, during a news conference in the state, Daily Post reports.
Umar said that amongst the seized drugs were over 34 tonnes of psychotropic substances and three tonnes of Cannabis Sativa.

According to him, 755 suspected drug traffickers which include six females, have been arrested by the command.
The commandant added that the agency was able to secure convictions for 299 of them, including three females.
He said, “The command was also able to counsel and rehabilitate 534 males and eight females with the aim of making them useful to the society."
Umar credited the cooperation from the residents of the state and the support of the state government, for the command's successes.

He also urged members of the public to report any suspicious activities in their area, to the authorities which will allow them to eradicate the society of criminal vices.
