Is the Federal Government's fight against corruption a success?

Dr Doyin Okupe, President Jonathan's Senior Special Assistant on Public Affairs want Nigerians to believe that the presidency is winning the war on corruption.

Last week, the Transparency International rated Nigeria as number 136 on the world corrupt country in the world, an improvement on the last year's 144 position.

The presidency is celebrating this feat with the Senior Special Assistant on Public Affairs to President Goodluck Jonathan, Dr Doyin Okupe, saying that Nigeria's Corruption Perception has improved from 144 to 136 in the 2014 CPI Transparency International, stressing that the government has won the fight against corruption with the improved rating.

But many Nigerians do not see any difference as far they are concerned, with many cases of corruption against government officials being swept under the carpet.

They cite the case of the N20 billion NNPC funds, the monumental corruption cases against former Aviation Minister, Stella Oduah and the private jet scandal involving Petroleum Minister, Diezani Allison-Madueke, amongst many others which have not seen the light of day, believing that the government's fight against corruption has been a farce.
