The Nigerian Senate in its last sitting, passed some bills into law and one of such laws has stipulated a life imprisonment sentence for rapists and various jail terms for people who engage in sexual assaults of different forms.

The Sexual Offences Bill also takes care of anyone found guilty of sexual offences like child sexual tourism, people who deliberately infect others with HIV/AIDS, incest, pornography, sex abuse, and people who deliberately lace drinks with drugs with intent to stupefy and sexually abuse persons with mental disabilities.
This law may be coming late going by the spate of rape and sexual offences that has been going on in the country but most Nigerians believe it is better late than never.
Pulse has been on the forefront of the war against rape and this new law is a welcome development but its implementation is a story for another day.
