Ugandan man weds 3 women on the same day... 2 are sisters [Video]

A Ugandan man has made history as he became the first person to wed three women at the same time.

Uganda Vision reports that Ssemanda got married to his three brides at a ceremony which drew a large crowd, some of whom went to see if the story they heard were true.

It was also gathered that quite surprisingly, the newly weds were all smiles as they were captured on camera and looked fully content with the marriage.

While speaking to Uganda Vision, Ssemanda, a food vendor in Kasenyi landing site, a Kampala suburb, said he opted for the joint wedding with his three wives due to lack of finance to hold separate functions.

“My wives are not jealous of each other. Good enough, each one has got a home and I promise to work harder and support them,” he said gleefully.

Ssemanda got married to his 48-year-old first wife, Salmat Naluwugge, 20 years ago and they have five children while the other two, 27-year-old Jameo Nakayiza and 24-year-old Mastulah, are sisters from the same parents.

Naluwugge who also spoke to newsmen, said:

“I thank our husband for marrying us all at once; it is a sign that he will not discriminate or take sides with any of us.”

Sheikh Swaleh Mugenyi who performed the marriage rituals, assured that it was not against Islam and advised the brides and their groom to stick to their religion and Allah in whatever they do.
