Nigeria at 56; no longer at ease

First of all, they're the ever consuming recession problems our Baba can't seem to find a solution for. There's the ever problematic issue of the chibok girls yet to be rescued, a situation Baba inherited from his predecessor.

Do we forget to mention the dragging issues of the eastern part of the nation and their quest for a sovereign state of Biafra or of the rampaging Niger Delta youths always in a bid to control their region's black gold (Crude oil)?

President Buhari promised us change with a lot of too good to be true promises and being tired of PDP and their filthy government myself and millions of other Nigerians had embraced the new change mantra and had with renewed enthusiasm voted in our brother from the northern part of the country. We are still to get the change we were promised. When exactly things are going to improve we do not know. We will perhaps urge Mr president to give us some answers. We have been told to embrace the new mantra change begins with me but how it concerns us we really do not know.

A lot has been said about the effort our president has made and the strides he has taken in recovering our stolen loots from those fat bellied politicians that have otherwise kept in stock our hard currencies for themselves and their generation unborn.

Our president has spent more time touring the world than he has spent in this country in a bid to savage our ever crumbling economy but is forced to think he is rather out to tour the world just as Phileas Fogg had done in the novel 'Around The World In Eighty Days'.

When a 15-year-old boy barely out of secondary school grunts Oh God a broke with a clear sign of frustration and every citizen complaining of Dollar to Naira exchange rates you know the economy is really at its lowest state.

They say the rich do not cry but even now our well to do citizens have been feeling the brunt of this economy. Save for our young boys who have all plunged into the new scheme of internet fraud, there's hardly anyone who would find this economy comfortable. Even our usually flamboyant artistes have all gone overseas in a bid to hustle for better paying shows and gigs.

This day the all night prayer sessions keep getting filled to the brim as Nigerians flock the churches seeking God's intervention and bail us out of this sinking ship just as he did the children of Israel yesteryears.

Perhaps to underline just how bad things are now, Nigerians in large numbers have embraced the new ponzi scheme throwing in their hard earned cash expecting 30 percent gains in returns. Even after several warnings and some persons digging out its shady history, die hard Nigerians keep throwing in cash just to hit the jackpot before the scheme comes crashing down.

The country is no longer at ease. everyone is eager to experience something better than the present. some factions have even urged the government to bring back our corruption reason being that even with the country neck deep in corruption and debt we had a better economy and things were not as bad as this.

This day before making decisions related to spending Nigerians ask themselves questions just to be sure it's really needed. before making a decision its good to think about the implications and it is only now Nigerians have endeared themselves to that phrase.

Before you drive out to visit that friend in lekki, do you really miss him that much? Why turn on the generator, can't the heat be managed? You ate in the morning isn't it better to wait for dinner instead of paying for lunch and many more questions are being asked all in a bid to cut down on spending.

The jury is still our to determine if we had made a mistake in usurping the past government. There's still time for Buhari to save us from all this mess and prove to Nigerians that he is still the untouchable incorruptible saint we portray him as.

Time is fast running out and it's high time the present state of things are arrested for presently Nigerians are not at ease and the last thing on anyone's mind now is spending lavishly on Independence day celebrations.
