Former President Olusegun Obasanjo has practically turned himself into a special adviser to President Muhammadu Buhari.

It almost seems that OBJ he is the de facto Senior Special Adviser to PMB on Political Matters, going by the frequency of his visits to the man who was his subordinate in the military. (Buhari was a Lieutenant Colonel when OBJ was a military Head of State in 1976).

So their closeness cannot be misconstrued but for the fact that Baba now seems to be talking too much whenever he is with PMB.

He has been regaling PMB with tales on how Goodluck Jonathan, his protegee and the man he practically foisted on Nigerians, had run the country aground, how GEJ had failed to listen to him (OBJ), how he warned about the recession but no one listened to him, and all sorts of stories that border on the whining of a desperate favour seeker.

What baffles one is the reason behind OBJ's turn-coat approach anytime he thinks he is being shunted aside. Any discerning Nigerian will know that the Obasanjo regime was the most favored in the country as the price of oil was at its highest in the eight years he ruled.

But what steps did he take to avoid a future recession? Can he tell us how much he spent on his desire to bend the rules so that he could come back for a third term as against the two terms enshrined in the constitution?

In case OBJ forgets, we need to remind him how much he campaigned for the late Musa Yar'Adua/GEJ ticket because he wanted to put his own anointed in Aso Rock.

He had dissipated so much energy in making Nigerians see that Yar'Adua and Jonathan were the messiahs Nigeria needed. He had disparaged Buhari on so many occasions, making him look like the devil's first cousin.

But today, that same Buhari is the man OBJ believes is the second Jesus who will take Nigeria to that Eldorado. He hobnobs with PMB today but if he is not in power tomorrow, OBJ will jump to the next man and continue the damage.

In the eight years he ruled Nigeria, can he tell us exactly what he and his party did for the country? Yar'Adua and Jonathan followed the blueprint laid down by the PDP, and being a founding member of the party and one time BOT Chairman, he should take part of the reckless PDP years instead of playing the saint here.

My candid advice to President Muhammadu Buhari is that he should be wary of this OBJ man because he is like a footballer who loves playing to the gallery.
