A 52-year-old Lagos-based trader, Eze Chukwuma, has been arraigned before an Ikeja Chief Magistrates' Court for allegedly sleeping with his daughters on several occasions.

Total Media reports that Chukwuma who resides at Iyana-Era, Ijanikin area of the state, was the one who deflowered one of his daughters, a 17-year-old girl when she was just 11 and had been sleeping with her since then.

Chukwuma's cover was blown when the girl could not take it any longer and confided in a neighbour who reported the case at a police station.

The police prosecutor in the case, Sergeant Raphael Donny, the accused is facing a count charge of defilement, an offense that contravenes Section 137 of the Criminal Laws of Lagos State, 2011, prescribing a life imprisonment upon conviction.

Sgt. Donny told the court that the defendant had been forcefully having carnal knowledge of his daughters since 2008. The 17-year-old victim said that their father usually had his way with her and her younger sister, after threatening to stab her and himself with a knife.

“At night, my father will ask us to separate ourselves so that he could sleep with me, before going to have his way again with my younger sister,” the victim allegedly told the police.

The prosecutor added that one of the victim’s elder sister ran away from home because their father was always having sexual intercourse with her and she could no longer bear it.

“The case was reported to the police by a neighbour, who the girl confided in," Sgt. Donny said.
