The photos were taken across China, and has now been seen by a large portion of Internet users in China.
Gerong Phuntsok and Dawa Drolma had no idea that their pre-wedding photoshoot would cause a large ripple in China.
The photos were taken across China, and has now been seen by a large portion of Internet users in China. According to China's official state news agency Xinuha, the photos have been viewed by 80 percent of the users on the WeChat, a messaging app. With China's population at over 1.35 billion, the pictures would have been viewed by hundreds of million of people.
"Maybe we represented thousands of young people from ethnic minorities, who left their hometowns to pursue a 'modern life' but chose to return to tradition after feeling a void in the heart," said Gerong. "I think we found an echo with other web users. As we fight for our dreams, some of us get lost. So we wanted to say with the photos: stick to your beliefs" he further said.
The photos see the couple in a coffee shop, an amusement park and driving in a sports car, in contrast to other photos that features them in a Tibetan village.
