A woman has been crushed to death in Calabar due to the bad state of the road.

Few days after a woman was crushed beyond recognition by a truck in Calabar, the capital of Cross River State, another woman has suffered the same fate as a truck belonging to cement manufacturers, UNICEM, reportedly crushed her to death as she rode on a commercial motorcycle from Akbauyo to Calabar.

CrossRiverWatch reports that the incident which happened on November 23, was caused by the state of the bad road as the truck, in trying to manoeuvre around a bad spot, hit the motorcycle and the woman fell under it.

According to the online site, the woman's husband is a pharmacist who owns medicine store at the gate of the Police College in Akpabuyo, the spot where the woman picked the commercial motorcycle to convey her to Calabar.

An eyewitness narrated how the accident that led to the death of the woman occurred:

"The woman was on a bike from Akpabuyo to Calabar when an approaching truck hit them from behind. As she struggled to alight from the bike, she slipped on the muddy ground slipped her and fell under the truck.

The truck driver, unknowingly, tried to reverse when he heard people shouting. He tried to halt, but the woman was already crushed to death.

The bike man was able to escape death but the woman and the motorbike were crushed by the heavy weight truck."
