A female presidential aspirant in Rwanda has been embarrassed by her political opponents who released her nude photos on the Internet.
According to Watchdog Uganda, the 35-year-old businesswoman cum politician was shocked when friends and party members called her to tell her of the private photos making the rounds around the world on the morning of Friday, May 5, 2017.
The move, according to party faithful, was meant to humiliate Rwigara who is one the few politicians who have boldly come out to attack President Paul Kagame’s bad governance, but the move is said to have backfired as a wave of criticism from women rights activists, human rights activists, and top politicians have continued to lambast the ruling Rwandan Patriotic Front (RFP).
The leaking of the photos came barely a week after she announces her ambition to challenge Kagame at the polls and with her rising profile, it is believed she will surely push the sitting president to the limits.
Political analysts are, however, divided in opinions as many of them think Rwigara's chances may have been dealt a huge blow with the leaked nude photos while others think the youths and non-conformists will line up behind her.
An analyst who was interviewed on the issue reportedly said:
“Who will take seriously a woman who finds idle time to take nude photos? Nudes are not new in Rwanda but no high-profile woman has been rudely exposed to this extent. This has been a territory for musicians, socialites, and corporate prostitutes."
