The Niger State Police Command has released a statement that it has arrested three members of the National Youth Service Corp (NYSC), who are serving in the state for allegedly robbing one Mrs Anyanwu Obioma, a shop owner at Halidu Gezu plaza in Suleja area of the state.
3 Corps members nabbed for armed robbery
Three Youth Corps members serving in Niger State have been arrested for robbery.
The command's Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO), ASP Bala Elkana, confirmed the arrest of Dore Shola Frank, Jimoh Sadiq, and Oscar Owolabi, saying the Corps members who are serving in Suleja, conspired to rob Obioma of the sum of N150,000 cash and other valuable properties and were arrested by a team of vigilante officers attached to the plaza.
The statement by Elkana reads:
“The three Corps members, Dore Shola Frank, Jimoh Sadiq, and Oscar Owolabi, were brought on the allegation that they conspired and entered the shop of one Mrs Anyanwu Obioma of Halidu Gezu Plaza Suleja and robbed her of a cash sum of N150, 000.00.
Apart from the cash, they also allegedly stole one Laptop valued at N140,000.00, recharge cards worth N159,000.00, three bags of rice valued N30,000.00 and 11 big sizes of Milo valued N15,000.00."
The PPRO said the police has launched an in-depth investigation into the matter and Niger State Secretariat of the NYSC has been duly informed about the involvement of the corp members in the incident.
