It was a scene of confusion and total lawlessness when an angry mob swooped on a bus belonging to the LAGBUS Assets Management Limited and destroyed it for allegedly crushing a five-year-old school girl at the Otto Bus Stop, in the Oyingbo area of Lagos State, the Punch reports.
Angry mob vandalise LAGBUS for crushing 5-yr-old girl
A Lagus State Bus (LAGBUS) has been destroyed by an angry mob after it crushed a school girl to death.
Apart from the girl who died, the bus also reportedly injured another pedestrian and a commercial motorcyclist popularly called 'Okada Man', leading the mob to smash the side glasses of the bus and damaged the front windscreen with stones, but were later dispersed by policemen from the Denton division, who towed the vandalised bus to the station.
It was gathered that the woman and the little girl who was in a school uniform, were walking on the pedestrian side of the Oyingbo-Otto Road, when the LAGBUS driver lost control of the vehicle and hit them.
The five-year-old’s legs were said to have been smashed, while another male pedestrian, said to be an okada (motorcycle) rider, was injured.
The girl was reportedly rushed to a nearby hospital where she was confirmed dead.
The driver was said to have fled the scene immediately the accident happened and no one knows his whereabout since the incident.
