2 suspects appear in court for alleged murder
The two murder suspects are being held in prison following a remand application presented by the prosecutor. They will be in captivity till the case resumes on June 30, 2016.
The suspects, Femi Bakare, 52, and Adewale Kazeem, 46, were accused of killing a man named Afeez Osunfunmi on the Golf Estate, Lakowe, in Ibeju-Lekki, Lagos.
According to Punch, the deceased was killed on May 15, 2016. He was involved in a battle for a land with the accused before his demise.
A prosecutor, who read out the charge against the suspected murderers, told the court that the crime contravenes with sections 221 and 409 of the Criminal Law of Lagos State, 2011.
The section of the charge reads, “That you, Femi Bakare, Adewale Kazeem and others now at large on May 15, 2016 at about 9.30pm at the Lakowe Golf Estate, Oko-Olomi, Itanpapa, Ibeju-Lekki in the Eti-Osa Local Government Area of Lagos State, in the Lagos Magisterial District, did unlawfully kill one Afeez Osunfunmi.”
Magistrate A. Adefulire, favoured a remand application made by the prosecutor, that the suspects be held in prison till the next hearing.
According to reports, the case has been postponed till June 30, 2016.
