The suspect whose name and address is yet to be confirmed, reportedly broke into the home of one Rasaq Olanrewaju on Fagbemila Street, Ajegunle, in the Alakuko area of the state at about 4am on Wednesday, November 9, Punch Metro reports.
According to the reports, the man stole a laptop, an iPhone, two DVD players, airtime cards, a power bank, a wristwatch and an undisclosed amount of money.
Punch Metro reports that, during his attempt to escape with his loot, an angry mob caught up with him and gave him a taste of jungle justice.
Olanrewaju, who reported the incident at the Alakuko police division told the police that some people eventually intervened in the situation and the suspect was rushed to the Sango Ota General Hospital, where he reportedly died.
“I was asleep when he (the suspect) entered my room. It was when he wanted to jump out through the window that I woke up. I raised the alarm and he was caught with the help of my neighbours. Some angry youths hijacked him from us and he was beaten up. We recovered a laptop, an iPhone, two DVD players, airtime cards, a power bank and a wrist watch from him.”
