The dream of John Saliu, an armed robbery suspect, to make quick cash by following his gang to rob in an area he was not familiar with, ended with being in police custody as he was arrested along the Old Apapa Road, Oyingbo, after allegedly dispossessing some market women of about N28,000, and missing his way while trying to escape.
Robbery suspect caught after missing his way after operation
An armed robbery suspect who missed his way while escaping has been arrested.
According to the Punch Newspaper, Saliu had come to the area with two others to operate but during the operation, members of the local vigilante got wind of their presence and the gang was forced to break up and the members tried to escape but for Saliu who was not conversant with the area, he had to hide behind a tanker parked on the road and that was how he was captured.
During interrogation, the suspect confessed that he had missed his way while trying to escape after he had come to the area from Ijora.
When he was searched, different purses containing money, phones and other items, arousing the suspicion of the security men that John allegedly attacked some market women.
He was later handed over to men of the Iponri Police Division.
