Nigerians have cried out at what they term injustice after a woman was jailed for 90 years for a N5.6 million admission scam.
According to Elombah News, the sentence was handed down on Charles by a Federal High Court sitting in Enugu State, for allegedly using an unregistered NGO to dupe unsuspecting members of the public over university admissions.
The conviction was secured by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC), which charged the case to the court on Thursday, October 27, 2016.
Charles was convicted by Justice D.V Agishir who sentenced the accused to three years imprisonment on each of the 30-count charge brought against her.
According to the EFCC, Charles was found guilty of swindling three young Nigerians to the tune of N5.6 million under the guise of helping them secure admission into the Enugu State University of Science and Technology, using her unregistered NGO called 'Bold and Dynamic Gender Initiative.'
Charles was arrested in 2007 when one of her victims petitioned the EFCC, on her fraudulent activities.
