InBauchi Police kill two kidnappers in gun battle

Two suspected kidnappers have been killed in a gun battle with a combined team of policemen and men of a private security outfit, Danga Security, in Bauchi state.

In a statement released by the acting Police Public Relations Officer in the state, Haruna Mohammed, it was revealed that the gun battle which lasted for about one hour, saw a member of the Danga Security outfit and the two deceased suspected kidnappers, critically injured and were rushed to the hospital for medical attention.

Mohammed, said two female hostages, Maryam Shu’aibu and Hauwa’u Karfe, from Bauchi State, were rescued from the kidnappers while another suspect was arrested.

The Superintendent of Police said that the exhibits recovered from the suspects include one K2 rifle with beech no. 2016576, one magazine, 15 rounds of live ammunition and other “incriminating” items.

Mohammed added that investigations into the case was still ongoing and that efforts are being made to apprehend other fleeing suspects.
