'My wife had sex with 27 men, had 8 abortions' - Husband tells court

A Harare, Zimbabwe man seeking a divorce from his allegedly adulterous wife, Silas Ngwenya, has told a Civil Court that his wife, Rudo Matonhodze, is so adulterous that she had sex with 27 men and terminated eight pregnancies since 2010.

"My wife is having several extra-marital affairs and each time we are being intimate, she shouts her boyfriend's names. She left our matrimonial home after confessing to have aborted eight pregnancies and having 27 boyfriends from the time we got married," Ngwenya told the court.

But the wife countered his claims, stating that she started keeping boyfriends because Ngwenya was in the habit of beating her.

"I decided to leave our matrimonial home because he was in the habit of physically and verbally abusing me. He led me into sleeping with other men because he does not show me care. I also want to end the marriage but I want custody of our two children because they are still minors and require motherly love and attention. I am currently staying with my parents and this is a favourable environment for the children. The respondent is unable to ensure that the children's daily needs are met," Matonhodze said.
