Pastor arrested while hawking 'fetish' meat

The self- acclaimed pastor identified as, Adeniyi Johnson, who is reported to be mentally challenged, was reportedly arrested by residents of Ijomu in Akure while hawking the 'fetish' fried meat within the area.

The self- acclaimed pastor identified as, Adeniyi Johnson, who is reported to be mentally challenged, was reportedly arrested by residents of Ijomu in Akure while hawking the 'fetish' fried meat within the area.

Eyewitness accounts reveal that Johnson had brought out the items from his pocket, placing them in a tray before proceeding to hawk them.

Vanguard reports that people in the area who had seen him had immediately raised alarm, and had been close to lynching him before the timely intervention of some elders who suggested that the culprit be taken to the Oba's palace.

The reports go on to reveal that the suspect, now reportedly in police custody, had formally been a pastor at the Iju/Ita Ogbolu branch of the church, before his to the Ipogun branch.

Following intense questioning by the palace chiefs, Johnson had disclosed that he had been divinely instructed to share the items in a bid to save his sick son, adding that his son would not survive unless people ate the fried meat.

As soon as the crowd had heard his confession, the reports reveal that they had attempted to stone him to death but had been prevented by the palace chiefs who had taken him into the inner chambers of the Oba's palace.

Johnson went on to plead with his captors that they should allow him share the meat so as to save his son's life.

The chiefs had later arranged for the suspect to be transferred into the custody of the Police, and is now being detained at the Police Area Command headquarters of the state for further interrogation.

Vanguard reports that sources from his church have disclosed that Johnson had been sacked over a month ago so as to enable his family treat his mental problem.
