Welder, 39, docked over alleged illegal electricity connection

The accused is facing a charge of breach of peace.

 

The accused, residing at Plot 5, Abeokuta Express Way, Mangoro, Ikeja, Lagos, is facing a charge of breach of peace.

The Prosecutor, Insp. Clifford Ogu, told court that the offence was committed on Nov. 22 at the residence of the accused.

Ogu said that the accused was owing N625, 000 for electricity, resulting to disconnection of power at his apartment by the Lagos Distribution Company.

“The accused reconnected the light and was enjoying free light until the officials got to know and arrested him,’’ he said.

The offence contravened Section 166 of the Criminal Law of Lagos State, 2011.

The accused, however pleaded not guilty to the charge.

The Chief Magistrate, Mrs Taiwo Akanni, granted the accused bail in the sum of N50, 000 with one surety in like sum.

Akanni adjourned the case to Feb. 15 for mention.
