"He beats me even though I cook for him" - woman seeks divorce

A woman is seeking the dissolution of her marriage on grounds of battery, drunkard and lack of care for her and her four children by her husband.

Bimbo Anifowose, 40, on Thursday approached an Ado-Ekiti Customary Court for the dissolution of her 19-year marriage, NAN reports.

The housewife is seeking the dissolution on grounds of battery, drunkard and lack of care for her and her four children by her husband.

The mother of four said that despite the fact that she was cooking for her husband and also engaged in other household chores, he was always beating her without any reasons.

She also alleged he was spending his money on alcohol.

The complainant told the court that aside the fact that she was responsible for the payment of the children school fees, her husband had not shown any sign of being responsible.

Bimbo said that she decided to move out of their home because he did not take care of the children.

But the defendant, Sunday Anifowose ,43, alleged that his wife built a house without his knowledge.

Sunday said he was still paying his children’s school fees in addition to sponsoring his wife to school.

He also told the court that he was always providing foodstuff for the house as well as opened a shop for her wife where she was trading.

The President of the Court, Mrs. Olayinka Akomolede, having listened to the oral evidence by both parties adjourned the case to Aug. 12 for further hearing.
