5 die as truck crushes bus at Fadeyi
Nine people have been confirmed dead and ten others injured after an 18-seater commercial bus smashed into a truck at the Fadeyi area of Lagos.
Officers of the Federal Road Safety Corps, alongside men from the Lagos State Emergency Agency, Nigeria Police Force, and Lagos State Traffic Management Authority quickly arrived at the scene to salvage as much as they could in the situation, and to ensure that adequate medical attention could be granted to those who were injured.
Mr. Michael Akindele, the General Manager of LASEMA says the accident happened due to the overspeeding of the commercial bus, which caused it to swerve dangerously and get into the path of the truck.
“The agency received an emergency alert of an accident involving two vehicles at Fadeyi Bus stop around 5.45am this morning. This prompted immediate activation of the Emergency Response Plan.
Total number of nine people lost their lives in the incident while 10 others sustained injuries and were taken to the emergency Trauma centre at Tollgate.” he said.
