The Magistrate, Mr M.G. Kamson, ordered that the accused be remanded at Mandala Prison following an application by the prosecution for his remand pending the completion of police investigation.

Earlier, the Prosecutor, Cpl. Gbenga Ayeni, had told the court that James, alias Bishop, of Iludun Oro in Kwara, at 1.00 a.m., on March 4, broke into the complainant’s room through the ceiling.

Ayeni said that the accused who was armed with a cutlass robbed the complainant of N15,000 and also had unlawful carnal knowledge of her

The prosecutor said that on the same day and at about 3.30a.m., the accused also broke into the room of one Mrs Victoria Babatunde of Isale Oshun Iludun Oro, and robbed her of N54,000 and jewellery worth N15,000.

Ayeni said, "Investigation conducted revealed that James Moses, who claimed to be Bishop of Oro Diocese and engaged in driving to cover up his satanic acts, was an armed robber and mostly raped hapless victims of the area."

He said that the offences committed by the accused, which bordered on house breaking, rape and armed robbery, contravened Sections 356, 283 and 1(2) of the Penal Code Law.

However, the accused pleaded not guilty to the charges against him.
