The command's Public Relations Officer, George Okafor, confirmed the incident in an interview with the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) in Abakaliki on Sunday.

He said the suspect had since been arrested by the police.

According to him, the command received the report of the incident on April 8 from one Okechukwu Nwite of Azuogba-agu village in Umuhuali community of Ishielu Local Government Area of the state.

``Nwite reported that around 6:45pm on that day, he was at the burial ceremony of one Peter Ude, when the vigilante leader allegedly fired shots from the gun he was carrying, which hit and killed the victim.
