Nigerian man arraigned before Dubai court over possession, attempted sale of 4kg of drugs
The suspect who's identity has been withheld, had reportedly denied possessing more than four kilograms of marijuana as well as his intention to sell the drugs after appearing before the Dubai Criminal Court today, April 5.
The National UAE reports that the suspect who had been arrested on January 20, 2016 following a police tip off about an attempted sale of marijuana for Dh9,500 per kilogram.
An undercover officer had reportedly contacted the suspect, arranging a meet so he could buy some of the drugs for Dh6,000.
The prosecutors reveal that suspect had reportedly arrived in a Nissan on the day of his arrest, the man arrived in a Nissan Patrol, asking the undercover officer to follow him to a more secluded point.
The two had then parked near a supermarket in Al Muraqqaba, after which the officer had gotten into the suspects car, with the police arriving to arrest him.
According to a police witness, 4.7kg of marijuana had reportedly been found in the suspects possession, although he denied that the drugs belonged to him.
The suspect was reportedly charged with possession of drugs to sell as well as consumption of hashish, all of which he has reportedly denied in court.
The next court hearing has reportedly been slated for April 26, 2016.
