Woman kidnapped in place of husband
A woman has been kidnapped by unknown gunmen on her way to drop off her children at school in Aba, Abia State.
Eyewitness accounts said the kidnappers used their vehicle to doublecross the woman as she approached Road 8 Junction, Federal Housing Estate, Ogbor Hill, and ordered her kids out of the car.
A resident of the area, who declined to have his name in print, said the gunmen attempted to kidnap the woman’s husband two weeks earlier, but missed their target.
At press time, it was not clear if the kidnappers had contacted the victim’s family for ransom.
Spokesman of Abia State Police Command, Ezekiel Onyeke, a Deputy Superin-tendent of Police, could not be reached for comments.
It will be noted that the rate of kidnapping skyrocketed nationwide in the past few months.
